What We Do
Museion²¹͘
Museion²¹˙ is a proven training and networking offer for those who aspire to a leadership role in the museum in the near future or have recently taken up such a role. Because a good leader needs more than professional competence.
In four modules, participants will go through the stages of future challenges: from reflecting on one's own self-efficacy as a leader, to developing a vision for the museum of the future, to establishing new routines and implementation issues, to confronting crises and conflicts. Profiled persons from the museum world, business, politics and cultural promotion provide impulses and lead the workshops. Using different learning and working formats, scenarios are played out, skills are trained, examples of good practice are analysed and networks are expanded.

Further development
Since 2018, the Siggen Circle for Museum Directors has been meeting regularly at the Gut Siggen seminar centre. This format is an offer to young and experienced museum directors from the fields of art, history, ethnology, archaeology and natural history to exchange interdisciplinary views on museum policy issues and aspects of leadership. Away from the daily work routine and beyond the usual committees, a space is offered to discuss, reflect and learn in a confidential setting. The focus is on collegial counselling, coaching and debate. Here, too, external trainers, facilitators and impulse providers are invited as needed. Participation in the circle is by invitation only.
- History
Together with the Ernst von Siemens Kunststiftung, the Volkswagen Foundation, the Körber Foundation, the Kulturstiftung der Länder and the Deutscher Museumsbund, "Museion²¹˙ - The Museum Academy" was developed for aspiring and young managers in the museum sector and offered three times between 2014 and 2017. Many of the participants took on a management function in the museum sector following the academy. The resulting alumni network of the three programme years continues to be active and in exchange, among other things with annual network conferences sponsored by the Foundation.
