What We Do

Siggen translator residences

Together with the Goethe-Institut, we are offering two translators from Europe the opportunity to spend six weeks in a quiet working atmosphere in a guest flat at Gut Siggen, where they can work on the translation of a work of German-language literature. There is also the opportunity to apply for an eight-week stay at the Toepfer Foundation's Elbehaus.

The scholarship
The Foundation will cover the costs of travelling to and from Siggen and provide meals during the stay. Meals at the Elbehaus must be paid for by the participants themselves. In addition, the Goethe-Institut pays the selected translators a scholarship of 1,500 euros.

Who can apply?
Translators from Europe can apply for the residency. Prerequisites are at least two major published translations and a publishing contract for the translation to be worked on during the stay in Siggen.
